What it actually is

A wheel carries your text as raised type around its circumference, mirrored so it reads the right way once it's down. A 15 mm paint marker clamps above it and keeps the type wet. The wheel turns on sealed bearings, so it rolls rather than drags, and the line comes out even.

Everything is made to order. There is no stock wheel — yours is cut from the text you send and printed for you, which is why it takes a few days rather than arriving tomorrow.

How ordering works

  1. Send your line

    Up to 18 characters at 8 mm cap height. Shorter lines get fitted twice per turn, so they repeat more often.

  2. We cut and print the wheel

    Your text is set, mirrored, wrapped to a 100 mm circumference and printed at 0.12 mm layers. Two to four working days.

  3. Clip in a marker and roll

    The clamp fits a 29 mm barrel. Slide the axle back until the type inks cleanly, tighten, and go.

Questions

What will it print on?

Cardboard, timber, plaster, brick, fabric, paper. Anything flat enough for the wheel to sit down on. Rough surfaces break the line up; smooth ones give a crisp impression.

Is the marker included?

No. The Molotow 627HS is easy to buy and comes in around fifty colours, so you're better off picking your own than paying us to guess. Any 15 mm marker with a 29 mm barrel will fit.

Can I order more wheels later?

Yes, and this is the point of the design. Wheels swap in seconds and cost a fraction of the tool. Most people end up with a few.

Can I have two lines?

Not on a 15 mm wheel. A wider wheel for two lines is being worked on — say if you want telling when it's ready.

How long does the ink last?

A full 627HS holds about 20 ml. Expect a good few hundred metres of line before it needs a refill, depending on how heavy your type is.
